Phaselis
Phaselis, an ancient city located in the Tekirova district of Antalya, is famous for its well-preserved ruins set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea and lush pine forests. The city's notable structures include Hadrian’s Arch, a monumental gateway built in 131 AD to commemorate Emperor Hadrian’s visit. The arch, with its towering columns and intricate carvings, showcases the architectural expertise of the time.
Close by, you can explore the ancient theatre, dating back to the 2nd century BC, which once hosted public performances for 1,500 spectators. Its semi-circular seating arrangement and well-preserved stage area provide a glimpse into the entertainment culture of the era. Adjacent to the theatre, the ruins of Roman baths still remain.
Phaselis is surrounded by three harbours—North, Central, and South—each with its own appeal. The South Harbor is particularly known for its beach, where visitors can swim in the clear waters while surrounded by ancient ruins. The nearby pine forests provide shaded paths, perfect for walking or picnicking.
Visitors can explore Phaselis daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Guided tours are also available for those wanting a more detailed experience.
