China is the hot topic in tourism today – and likely for many years to come. With the largest outbound tourism market in the world and the highest tourism expenditure of any nation, combined with a growing middle class and traveller segment, it is easy to see why China should be at the top of everyone’s minds.

While everyone talks about the huge potential that the Chinese traveller brings for the tourism industry, less attention is paid to how organisations should go about marketing to this group, besides the general ‘get a WeChat’.

In this issue of the VE bulletin, David Rumsey, CEO of the Shanghai-based ASAP+, takes a deeper look into this topic to provide destination organisations with insights into the Chinese traveller and tangible action points to target them directly through digital.
