Taxes are not always the biggest problem when it comes to organizations in the travel industry. On the contrary, the taxes helps the government to develop a better tourism facilities for the fast growing inbound arrivals and thus only positive factors for the industry. But in the recent decade, tourism related companies, such as airlines and accommodations, are affected by the taxes and an easy mark for the government to gain extra taxes. May this be the reason why there is a decrease in international visitor growth?
In this edition of Issues & Trends the taxes in different parts of the tourism industry will be explained, with case studies and further explanation why taxes are not always the solution for every financial situation of the government.
