Why we’re a member of PATA?

In line with MyBhutan’s foundational interest to support sustainable and socially responsible tourism initiatives, we joined PATA in order to broaden our ever-expanding knowledge base on better sustainability practices. We believe that our industry-leading practices — in connection with Bhutan’s pioneering policies on environmental conservation — will spur innovation in the realm of sustainable travel both in the Kingdom and beyond.

We also joined PATA with hope to connect with other responsible parties across the globe both to share ideas and build relationships.

How We’re Doing It?

Operating in the world’s only remaining carbon neutral country, it was natural for our company to take interest in adopting green travel ideas and policies. We are proud to be one of the leading eco-tourism companies in Bhutan across all industries, and have partnered with various government agencies and nonprofit organizations in our effort to keep Bhutan a healthy place to live for all of its living beings.

Our eco-friendly travel operation is committed to low impact infrastructure and services. Our entire operation is free of disposable plastics and we are the only fully green trekking supplier in country. We have a zero-tolerance policy and a corresponding process to ensure that we do not leave waste on trails.

We actively look to partner with local parties that support sustainable tourism practices and our Guest Services team hosts sustainability events to share ideas with other industry players.

We also learn from our team members constantly. One of our team members, Gembo, started the nation’s largest cleaning campaign.

We have identified ways both to support Gembo’s project and also learn from his initiative in order to adopt additional sustainability practices into our work.
