PATA CEO, Liz Ortiguera, shared an email to our network of valued PATA International Members on Aug 19, 2021 with details about her top priorities. Her message has been reposted in the blog.

I know that many of you, like me, will be separated from your family members during this holiday season, but I hope we can all be reunited again soon. In the meantime, take comfort knowing that your friends and family are still just a video call away.

While the road to recovery will be long and arduous, I am confident we will eventually travel again. To get there, beyond just close cooperation between the public and private sectors, we will need to be innovative, creative, and resourceful. If we do that, I am sure that we will rebuild a more robust and more responsible travel and tourism industry.

We have now reached a phase where everyone is realising that a vaccine may be months if not years away and we must learn to adapt to what it has come to be referred to as the “new normal”.
