DREAMLAND OF THE STARS

Discover Ningxia, China

Enjoy yourself in the dreamland Ningxia

Ningxia is a must-see for whoever travels to China

Ningxia, located in Northwest China, is a land of treasures bestowed by nature.

Gently embracing Ningxia in her arms, the Yellow River peacefully flows through for thousands of years nurturing the region’s stunning landscapes and rich culture.

The father-like Helan Mountain (贺兰山), for long, shields the Ningxia people’s habitats from the advancing Tengger Desert that created a geographical spectacle- the desert-surrounded land resembling the ancient Jiangnan watertown in the hinterland of China. The warm climate and nutritious land nourished by the Helan Mountain and the Yellow River titled Ningxia “the Capital of Wine”.

The eastern foothills of the Helan Mountain used to be a barren desert, but today it has transformed into a golden land growing some of the best wine grapes of the country. Over time, these high-end wines have gained their presence in the international markets and are on their way to amaze the world.

The Liupan Mountain (六盘山) in the south of Ningxia, known as the "Mountain of Triumph", was the last mountain the Red Army climbed over in the Long March in the 1930s. It is an important military retreat undertaken by the Red Army to evade the pursuit of the Kuomintang army, hence its importance in China’s revolutionary history.

Ningxia is also known as the "Dreamland of the Stars". On both sides of the Yellow River- at the top of Liupan Mountain or at the foot of Helan Mountain, visitors can enjoy the great scenery of the Great Wall under the daylight and the star-lit sky whenever they look up at nighttime, as if in a wonderland.

Speaking of gastronomy, Ningxia is the hometown of Tan Sheep in China. The Tan Sheep meat in Ningxia is tender and not gamy, so that even those not used to eating mutton would happily take a bite.

Traveling in Ningxia is to start a new journey and a new way of life in the vast land of northwest China and enrich your traveller life with culture. In Ningxia, you can enjoy a cool summer, a sunbathed winter, and a relaxing and peaceful ecological environment all year round. At present, Ningxia is striving to build a pilot area for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin which has become a charming international destination in western China.

Come to Ningxia to taste its red wine and mutton, watch the starry sky, and give your mind and soul a well-deserved holiday. Ningxia, a place to refresh yourself, and a place to start again!
