Greek Orthodox High School
Commonly known as Phanar Greek Orthodox College (Fener Rum Erkek Lisesi), the Greek Orthodox High School is one of the oldest and most prestigious Greek Orthodox schools in İstanbul. Established in 1454 after the Ottoman conquest, it has played a significant role in the city’s Greek Orthodox community for centuries.
Perched atop a hill, the school’s neo-classical architecture, with its grand columns and stately facades, reflects its rich history. While not generally open to the public, its striking red-brick exterior remains an iconic landmark, offering a glimpse into İstanbul’s diverse heritage.
