Hong Kong – 25 September 2023 - To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, Ngong Ping 360 will host the “Ngong Ping 360 Lantern Festival” from 23 September to 8 October. During the festival, Ngong Ping Village will be adorned with over a thousand hand-painted lanterns, transforming it into the perfect place to experience the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Some of the lanterns have been created by primary and secondary school students and ethnic minority groups. Their creative and colourful designs beautifully embellish Ngong Ping Village, bringing vitality to the main streets and pavilions!

Tung Chung and Tai O Community Co-Creations: Joining hands to create lanterns that light up the sky

The 360 Caring Team, alongside the Tung Chung Integrated Services Centre and TOUCH – Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities by the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council, Ching Chung Hau Po Woon Primary School, CCC Tai O Primary School and Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College, unleashed students’ creativity for the Mid-Autumn Festival by collaboratively painting unique lanterns. The lanterns are on display in Ngong Ping Village, where they light up the village with creativity and love.

Guests can capture heart-warming moments under the sea of colourful hand-painted lanterns lining the main street of Ngong Ping Village. Guests who purchase on-day round-trip cable car tickets will also receive a lantern riddle game card. If guests answer a designated number of riddles correctly, they will have the opportunity to join a lucky draw and win exciting prizes!

Mid-Autumn Festival Special: Hand-painted Lantern Workshop

In addition to enjoying the sea of lanterns and participating in the lantern riddle game, guests can join a “Hand-painted Lantern Workshop”; an activity not to be missed!

During the workshop, guests can unleash their creativity at the Ngong Ping Village Pavilion, where instructors will teach them lantern-painting techniques. Guests can take their own uniquely designed lantern artwork back home for a truly festive experience!


Ngong Ping 360 Lantern Festival: Lantern Riddle Game

Details: The Pavilion at Ngong Ping Village is adorned with hand-painted lanterns that form a unique array of lanterns with riddles that challenges guests to engage in the traditional festive game of solving lantern riddles.

Mechanism: Guests who purchase on-day round-trip cable car tickets will receive one lantern riddle game card. By successfully solving at least 3 riddles, guests will have the opportunity to join a lucky draw and win exciting prizes!

Mid-Autumn Festival Special: Hand-painted Lantern Workshop

Details: Guests will be taught lantern-painting techniques to allow them to freely create and paint their own lanterns. They can take their uniquely designed lanterns home to demonstrate their festive spirit and creativity!

Mechanism: Upon purchasing any on-day Ngong Ping 360 cable car ticket and making purchases at any of the merchandise shops in Ngong Ping Village, guests can participate in one “Hand-painted Lantern Workshop” on a designated date* by presenting their ticket and receipt at the Ngong Ping Village Pavilion.

Details: Guests who present an on-day cable car ticket and a receipt of a purchase made at one of the merchandise shops in Ngong Ping Village can participate in a Hand-painted Lantern Workshop# at the Ngong Ping Village Pavilion.

#A sales receipt from Ngong Ping Village’s Kiosk will not be accepted. Each receipt can only be used once. Places are limited, and are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
