What is FestPAC? Who is coming? Where is FestPAC taking place? What are the opportunities for your business?

Hawaii, 18th April, 2024 - Join us as Festival Chair Kalani Ka‘anā‘anā, Chief Stewardship Officer of the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority answers these questions and more as Hawai‘i hosts FestPAC for the first time – and possibly the only time during your lifetime!

About the Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture in Hawai‘i: The Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture (FestPAC) is the world’s largest celebration of indigenous Pacific Islanders. The South Pacific Commission (now The Pacific Community - SPC) launched this dynamic showcase of arts and culture in 1972 to halt the erosion of traditional practices through ongoing cultural exchange. It is a vibrant and culturally enriching event celebrating the unique traditions, artistry, and diverse cultures of the Pacific region. FestPAC serves as a platform for Pacific Island nations to showcase their rich heritage and artistic talents.

Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, FestPAC was one of the first major festivals in Hawaiʻi to be postponed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The early decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of Hawaiʻi residents and visiting delegations. The new date in 2024 maintains the four-year cycle of festivals while maximizing the opportunity for delegations to participate as their own Pacific island nations recover from the economic and social impacts of the pandemic. The theme for FestPAC Hawaiʻi 2024 is “Ho‘oulu Lāhui: Regenerating Oceania,” honoring the traditions that FestPAC works to perpetuate with an eye toward the future.
