PATA Thailand Chapter - Statement on the Shootings in Bangkok, Oct 3, 2023

BANGKOK – 04 October 2023 – Statement on the shootings in Bangkok, Oct 3, 2023

Members of the PATA Thailand chapter would like to express their deepest condolences and sympathies to the families and friends of the victims of the shocking attack by a lone perpetrator in a Bangkok shopping mall on Oct 3, 2023.

Words cannot adequately describe our grief and sadness. We stand ready with our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and all other public and private entities to offer all possible help and assistance.

We emphatically share the sentiments expressed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which said: “The government’s priority is to ensure the safety of Thais and foreigners alike and that such tragedies are prevented in the future.”

In forging such prevention strategies, the PATA Thailand chapter believes it is time to take a deeper look and focus on the root causes rather than just the symptoms.

We now have a new leadership in place across all sectors, in both government and tourism. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has promised a “New Era of Change.”

The PATA Thailand chapter, and indeed PATA at large, stands ready to help the Royal Thai Government deliver on that promise in a truly meaningful, sustainable and responsible way.
