Sampan Travel DMC Expands Operations to Eastern & North Eastern India

KOLKATA, INDIA, June 21st, 2023- Sampan Travel DMC has expanded its operations to cover Eastern & North Eastern India . Sampan conducted its first tour in Nagaland and Manipur states in April 2023. Sampan’s flagship “Forgotten War Tour” with Dr Robert Lyman is running in November 2023 and February 2024, with more departure dates in the pipeline.

Sampan has conducted bespoke, high-end and experiential journeys in Myanmar since 2013. The Sampan team remained in Myanmar throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing political crisis. Sampan’s office in Yangon remains open. However due to the limited numbers of agents and travellers choosing Myanmar, Sampan has expanded to offer tours in India as well.

Sampan’s Managing Director Mr Bertie Alexander Lawson says:

We are excited to take Sampan’s ethos of high customer service, sustainability and experiential travel into Eastern and North Eastern India. There are many similarities between North East India and Myanmar. Like Myanmar, the North East is full of places which have a romantic resonance – Assam, Manipur, Sikkim … – for many travellers, but has only seen a trickle of tourists in the past. Like Myanmar the North East is a place of outstanding natural beauty with an intriguing history and diverse ethnicity. Like Myanmar, the local people are incredibly caring and welcoming to visitors.

“We are still in Myanmar are we not going anywhere. We are still in Yangon. But now we are in Kolkata, too.”
