GLP Films: “Sustainable Thailand” Video Campaign Spotlights the Future of Sustainable Travel in Thailand through Wellness, Community-Based Tourism, and Elephant Experiences

Kennebunk, Maine, 23rd September, 2020 - The Tourism Authority of Thailand and GLP Films (GLP), the award-winning content marketing agency dedicated to global sustainable tourism, have partnered on the first video campaign focused on strengthening the future of tourism in Thailand. The “Sustainable Thailand” video campaign supports Thailand’s commitment to sustainability through the marketing and distribution of three new short films and a series of social media content that showcase responsible travel experiences.

“Sustainable Thailand” Trailer:

As the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s first video campaign focused primarily on responsible travel, the “Sustainable Thailand” campaign establishes sustainable tourism as an important tenet for a leading global travel destination. Filmed in Chiang Mai, located in Northern Thailand and the Andaman Coast in Southern Thailand, the videos spotlight experiences that support the environment, local tourism, and rural communities, including health and wellness, community-based tourism, animal welfare, and conservation. Each story also supports the 2020 World Tourism Day theme of “Tourism and Rural Development,” by driving economic development outside of major cities, and leveraging tourism’s role to preserve culture and heritage.  The stories are expected to resonate with responsible travelers seeking more meaningful experiences and to inspire travelers to choose sustainable tourism options for their next visit to Thailand.

“The Tourism Authority of Thailand recognizes the importance of sustainable tourism and having a better balance of quality versus quantity.  TAT is excited to partner with GLP Films to promote tourism experiences that benefit local communities and help Thailand better align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and integrate sustainability as a fundamental principle for tourism in Thailand,” states Charinya Kiatlapnachai, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand New York Office.

“The Sustainable Thailand video campaign helps communicate the important message of not losing sight of the long-term objectives of tourism—to protect our cultural and natural heritage, share experiences that are meaningful and environmentally friendly, and benefit local communities in a tangible way,” comments Siriwan Seeharach, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Los Angeles Office.

“These stories from Thailand come at a time when the travel industry needs to build back tourism that benefits local communities and safeguards the cultural and natural assets of a destination,” states Rob Holmes, Founder & Chief Strategist of GLP Films. “When Thailand’s border reopens, Thailand will be well-positioned to welcome travelers with meaningful, safe, and enriching experiences that contribute to the well-being and livelihoods of local communities and environments, and that is something travelers can feel good about.”

The videos will be distributed across digital and broadcast channels via a collaborative marketing campaign involving media, influencers, and the travel trade. Highlights of the series include a look into the daily lives of community leaders such as Ekarat Cheungyang, dedicated to conserving Thailand’s mangroves; Chertchai Pongpathaphi, Head Mahout devoted to elephant welfare; and Supan and Somsak Inthachai, sharing traditional Thai wisdom and wellness through village homestays.  View the “Sustainable Thailand” videos and responsible travel resources at thailandinsider.com/experience/responsible-tourism and http://glpfilms.com/sustainable-thailand , or follow #SustainableThailand on social media to watch the new content as it’s released.
