About the Tourism & Technology Forum
As presented by the United Nations World Travel Organization (UNWTO), the tourism industry is one of the first sectors to adopt a digital business process. Tourism has consistently been an early adopter of emerging technologies and platforms. Over the years, innovation and technological advancements in the tourism sector fostered changes which have proven significant in the industry’s growth as it bolstered the competitiveness of companies and destinations while enhancing the travel experience.
The ongoing global pandemic has made it imperative for tourism stakeholders to transform their business models by reconsidering strategies, improving operations, facilities, systems, and refocusing marketing and promotional plans through the use of technology to remain relevant in the market.
The TTF is part of the TPB’s strategic and pivotal response to the growing needs of the Philippine tourism industry, particularly in the context of this current pandemic. For the first time, the TPB is organizing this Forum to provide a learning platform for discussing trends, advantages, opportunities and explore optimal options to enable our stakeholders and public sector partners to leverage on digital technologies in pushing for our tourism development agenda.
