Universitat de Girona: Collaboration in a Virtual Setting

18th March, 2021 -The third semester of the European Master in Tourism Management is dedicated to team-based assignments. Students from different educational backgrounds, cultures and identities collaborated efficiently and effectively with each other, engaged in brainstorming and delivered high-quality outcomes. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the students adjusted to the new reality working in a virtual setting, as some of them were geographically apart.

And now you wonder how they managed to stay motivated and productive throughout the whole semester? Α powerful coaching session from Glenn P Wallis and Patrik Ballin was organized at the beginning of the semester and its contribution was clear - introducing techniques and tools with which the teams could develop a common team culture, foster their interpersonal and communication skills, manage conflicts and resolve disagreements, and setting goals and reaching them. All the above would not have been possible to achieve without each and every student displaying constant engagement and commitment. The process turned out to be a valuable experience for all of the students to grow as individuals and carry these new skills forward to their future careers. As the teamwork came to an end in January, students shared their opinions and their experiences, giving feedback about their collaboration.

We would like to thank the Glenn P Wallis consultancy team and EMTM secretariat’s Shima Ahmadi’s dedication to provide EMTM students with all this support to help them become better individuals and team members.
