Inese Sirava

Director of the Tourism Department, LIAA - Tourism Development Agency of Latvia

Inese Sirava has more than 20 years of experience in the tourism industry. She has been involved in diverse tourism development projects in the Baltic Sea Region and she has excellent knowledge of the region's tourism sector.

Inese started her career in regional tourism destination management company by inspiring and educating tourism service providers and local destinations to collaborate and develop tourism offer thus increasing their competitiveness. After joining the National Tourism Board of Latvia she was involved in market research and strategic planning, service quality and product development.

In 2016, she was appointed Head of the newly established Tourism Department at Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, which took over the functions of the national tourism organization. She is a member of European Travel Commission’s Board of Directors, Member of Baltic Tourism Development Committee, as tourism expert she is involved in the work of tourism sector advisory boards and steering committees.  

By participating in industry conferences and providing lectures at universities, Inese has always shared her experience and knowledge with representatives of the tourism sector and new tourism generation.

Inese believes that sustainable, slow and smart travel is the future for small destinations and is promoting this idea in tourism sector. Especially now when the pandemic has brought the concept of sustainable tourism forward and travelers begin to look for such experiences - Nordic & Baltic region perfectly fit into this trend.
