Peter Richards
Project Manager, SWITCH ASIA Tourlink Project
Peter Richards is a passionate, team player, who enjoys motivating colleagues across sectors and cultures to work together, and put responsible tourism into practice. Peter has over 20 years of hands-on experience at the crossroads of responsible tourism and community development: from grassroots to global levels. During this time, Peter has worked in the private and non-profit sectors, with governments, NGO’s, academia, tourism associations, tour operators and guides, local communities, hotels and restaurants. Peter's core skills include sustainable tourism project management; training and coaching; developing and marketing inspiring local experiences; facilitating win-win partnerships between diverse stakeholders in international tourism supply chains; and helping businesses, organisations and communities to raise sustainability standards. Peter is currently working as Project Manager of the EU SWITCH-ASIA funded Tourlink project, which aims to raise sustainability standards among tour operators and suppliers in the European-Thai tourism supply chain, and to promote Thailand as a world class sustainable tourism destination. Peter lives with his family in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand; welcoming green-hearted guests to experience local life and culture at Harmony@Huailan Home Ecolodge. Peter enjoys spending time with family, trekking in the forest and good coffee.
