Though Stephan is new to Diethelm Travel, Asia travel is not new to Stephan. Having first stepped on the continent in 1982 for a student internship, Stephan has since been working in the Asia sector for more than 35 years. After his return to Europe, he was involved in the forming of the first a-la-carte tour operator for Asia in Switzerland. In 1992, Stephan founded his own company, Tourasia, as a specialised competence centre for Asia travel. Today, Tourasia still operates in Switzerland, and through its subsidiaries in Germany and Poland, employing 50 staff members in Europe. The company recently merged its Asia business with Diethelm Travel Group to become one of the largest inbound tour operating enterprises in Asia. Stephan has a strong vision and by combining the two companies considerable strengths, Diethelm Travel will be the only travel company operating a fully comprehensive network with its own locations throughout Southeast Asia.
