PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter: Cycle Rally
Punjab, India, 25th September 2024 – PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter organised a “Cycle Rally” to Celebrate World Tourism Day 2024 which was focused to Promote Good Health and Well-being, Clean Energy, and Climate Action.
The “Cycle Rally” is an inspiring initiative amid the celebration of World Tourism Day to raise awareness about sustainable living, active health, and environmental consciousness. The event, which saw students, faculty, and staff come together, was a celebration of collective action towards a healthier and greener future.
The event was not just about cycling, but about fostering a culture of conscious living within the university community.
Students from various domains such as Tourism, Airlines, Hotel Management, and Culinary Arts from University Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management took active participation during the event. It was a reminder of how small changes, like choosing bicycles over cars or prioritizing active lifestyles, can have a significant positive impact on our environment and our personal well-being.
Focusing on Health and Well-being, in line with SDG 3, one of the key messages of the rally was the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Cycling, being an accessible and environmentally friendly activity, was used to highlight how individuals can incorporate fitness into their daily routines without contributing to pollution. This aligns with the student chapter’s ongoing efforts to create awareness about health and well-being, particularly among the student population.
Advocating for Clean Energy through the lens of SDG 7, the rally also reinforced the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability. By choosing bicycles instead of motorized vehicles, participants demonstrated the power of individual action in reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner air. The event echoed PATA’s vision of encouraging sustainable tourism and transport, setting an example for both the campus and the surrounding community.
