PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter: In Collaboration with Yuva Tourism Society Club for Sustainable Development

 
 

Punjab, India, 22 October 2024 – PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter in collaboration with Yuva Tourism Society Club to Promote Sustainable Development through Creativity and Awareness

PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter partnered with Yuva Tourism Society to organize fun, creative, and sustainable events on October 4, 2024. The purpose of the event was to spread awareness about important environmental and social issues that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations such as Cleanliness, sanitation and wildlife conservation.
This collaboration also shed light on the value of peaceful cohabitation between humans and animals as well as our role in protecting and sustaining our ecosystem.

Highlights of the Event and SDG Alignment:

▶  Self-Recorded Reels : "Promoting Healthy Lives and Clean Habits"

This activity encouraged participants to create reels, creatively expressing their take on cleanliness and hygiene habits In line with sustainable development goal 4 and 6; Promoting Clean Water and sanitation.

 

▶ Story telling based on photography: A variety of thought-provoking photos featuring the harmonious coexistence of humans and animals both positively and negatively was displayed and each participant had to interpret the photo assigned in his/her understanding. This goal is in alignment with sustainable Development Goals: Promoting Quality Education (SDG 4) and Life on Land (SDG 15).

Movie Screening: The movie “Elephant Whispers” follows the journey of Bomman and Bellie, a couple in South of India that dedicate their lives to taking care of an orphaned young elephant named Raghu. It draws close attention to the bond humans can develop with animals and encourages us all to value and protect wildlife.

This aligned with Sustainable Development Goals: Promoting Quality Education (SDG 4) and Life on Land (SDG 15).

Event Objective:

  • Promote awareness by motivating students to take initiative in living sustainably.

  • Promote Sanitation and Clean Water: Emphasizing hygienic habits that enhance health and wellbeing.

  • Encouraging students to take part in sustainable initiatives that promote the conservation of ecosystems and wildlife by peacefully coexisting.

SUCCESS MATRICS

The event saw enthusiastic participation from across various departments, including Department Tourism, Airlines, Hotel Management, and Culinary Arts. Their presence added to the diversity and richness of the discussions and activities, highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of the tourism industry. It was a fun and memorable event which enhanced everybody’s creativity, along with deepening their understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals. The students who took part in these initiatives committed to integrating sustainable habits into their everyday routines.  Our PATA Student Chapter continues to enable and encourage students to take the lead in environmental stewardship, guaranteeing a healthier and cleaner Earth for coming generations.
