PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter: Official Launch & Debut Event

Punjab, India, 21st August 2024 - The Exclusive Launch of the PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter was a grand success, beginning an exciting journey towards promoting sustainable tourism and responsible practices. The event, held in the university’s auditorium, was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Honourable Vice Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Prof. (Dr.) Manpreet Singh Manna Sir, along with renowned leading Travel Entrepreneurs Mr Prashant Daroch from Holiday Hub and Mr Soundar Rajan from HighQ Tourism.

 The event commenced with a formal inauguration of the PATA Student Chapter. The honourable Vice Chancellor of Chandigarh University was invited as the chief guest and honoured with the responsibility of unveiling the chapter.  Renowned travel entrepreneurs shared their experiences and insights with the students. Their knowledge covered various aspects of the travel industry, emphasizing innovation, entrepreneurship, and the significance of sustainable practices in modern tourism.

After the formal inaugural ceremony, the executive committee performed our Debut Event—a Skit-themed “GREEN GAURDIANS: A STEP TOWARDS RESPONSIBLE PRACTICES”. The performance designed to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly those related to “Good Health and Well-Being (SDG3)”, “Quality Education (SDG 4)”, “Climate Action” (SDG13) and “Life on Land” (SDG15). The Skit was well-received and successfully conveyed powerful messages about the role of individuals and communities in achieving these goals. It ended with the PATA Pledge (oath) taken by all the Executive committee members and the diverse audience.

KEY SUCCESS METRICS:
The event saw enthusiastic participation and attendance of around 520 students from across various departments, including Department Tourism, Airlines, Hotel Management, and Culinary Arts. Their presence added to the diversity and richness of the discussions and activities, highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of the tourism industry.   The event concluded with a pledge taken by all the members of the Executive Committee of the PATA Student Chapter as well as the rest of the audience that attended. The pledge emphasized their commitment to promoting sustainable tourism practices and contributing to the broader goals of the PATA organization.
