PATA India Christ University Student Chapter: Guest Lecture on "Facets of Karnataka Folklore"

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, 22rd August 2023 – PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Management at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, successfully hosted a captivating guest lecture titled "Facets of Karnataka Folklore" by Dr. Githa U Badikillaya. The event, held in the Main Auditorium and Quadrangle, featured insightful discussions on the diverse folklore of Karnataka, including rituals, religious figures, and customs that shape regional identities and traditions. Dr. Badikillaya's engaging presentation highlighted the significance of preserving these cultural heritages amidst changing times.

The lecture was attended by 350 students, who were immersed in learning about the varied folklore practices across Karnataka. Dr. Badikillaya's talk shed light on the importance of acknowledging and preserving these traditions, emphasizing their role in bonding communities and maintaining cultural continuity. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the dynamic nature of folklore and its universal significance in connecting people through shared human experiences.

Following the lecture, the event featured cultural dance performances and a cultural walk by students, showcasing the rich traditions of various Indian states. The day concluded with an exhibition of stalls in the Quadrangle, where students represented the folklore and cultural heritage of different regions, providing an enriching experience for all attendees. The Folklore Fiesta-2023 was a memorable celebration of India's diverse cultural legacy, promoting unity and appreciation for the nation's rich heritage.

About PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter:

Founded in 2020, PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter is India’s first PATA Student Chapter. The organization is run by students of the tourism discipline of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) to benefit more than 250 members spanning across undergraduate and postgraduate tourism programmes in the university. The members are encouraged to participate in activities hosted by the chapter, focusing on various industry concerns, including sustainability and industry development.
