PATA India Christ University Student Chapter: "Milletia": Engaging Activities and Stalls

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, 11st August 2023 — PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Management at Christ (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus, Bangalore, celebrated the second day of the "International Year of Millets 2023" with a vibrant event titled "Milletia" on August 11, 2023. Held in the Quadrangle from 1 pm to 2 pm, the event featured millet-inspired stalls and activities, aiming to promote the nutritional and economic benefits of millets. Dr. Nagarjuna G, Assistant Professor of the Department of Tourism Management, led the event, which saw participation from over 100 students.

The celebration commenced with the introduction of tourism committees and their members, presided over by Program Coordinator Dr. Bindi Varghese. Various stalls set up by BBA Tourism and Travel Management and Masters of Tourism and Travel Management students showcased an array of millet-based foods. Attendees had the opportunity to taste these samples and learn about the importance of incorporating millets into their diets. The event highlighted millets as superfoods essential for human health and beneficial to the nation's economy and society.

In addition to the food displays, the event featured fun games and creatively decorated boards and tables, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Students engaged with the stalls, sampling different millet dishes while understanding their health benefits. The event successfully concluded with enthusiastic participation and a deeper appreciation for millets, underscoring their significance as a sustainable and nutritious food source.




About PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter:

Founded in 2020, PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter is India’s first PATA Student Chapter. The organization is run by students of the tourism discipline of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) to benefit more than 250 members spanning across undergraduate and postgraduate tourism programmes in the university. The members are encouraged to participate in activities hosted by the chapter, focusing on various industry concerns, including sustainability and industry development.
