PATA Malaysia HELP University Student Chapter: World Tourism Day 2023

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 10th July 2024 - On 30th September 2023, the annual World Tourism Day mini-expo was organised in collaboration with the Malaysia Association of Hotels (MAH) and various industry partners, including national and international schools at the multi purpose hall in Subang 2 Campus. Present was Dr. Alice Lim, Mr. Azis, Mr. Syahir and Ms. Rajesvare from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Department.

We brought together hotels and travel companies to showcase their products to students, guests, and the local community through the sponsorship of prizes for the winners of the poster competition.

Among the other activities we organised were poster exhibitions using recycled products by Impactlution, CSR, and environmental solutions providers for organisations and companies that are concerned about their social and environmental responsibilities. Posters using the materials would go to show how the materials can be reused.

The competition promoted creative ideas from the contestants, and their posters may be implemented in future advertisements and campaigns. Everyone that attended had gained new insight and knowledge about the state of the Malaysian tourism industry.

The expo demonstrated HELP University’s emphasis on developing the Malaysian tourism sector by showcasing its hospitality and tourism management programs. Another goal was to have a dialogue and plans on how the tourism sector can adopt eco-friendly practices to reduce waste  and carbon emissions in line with Malaysia’s national  environmental goals. Graduates of the programme work together with PATA to promote Malaysia’s appeal of natural beauty and multicultural heritage to the world.
