PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter partners in Socially Responsible Venture: Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility in Hospitality

Bangkok, Thailand, 7th Feburary, 2024 - PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter hosted "Socially Responsible Venture: Future Trends of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility in Hospitality." Featuring a startup competition aligned with the UN SDGs, the event highlighted industry insights from keynote speaker Khun Ben Montgomery, Corporate Ambassador at Centara Hotels & Resorts and Chairperson of the PATA Thailand Chapter, fostering innovation in sustainable tourism practices.

In collaboration with the Marketing and International Tourism and Hospitality Management departments of Bangkok University's International program, the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter organized a seminal event which served as a platform to educate students and industry professionals about the UN’s SDGs, emphasizing their integration into the hospitality sector.

Participants eagerly participated in insightful discussions,Q&As, advice giving and so on that addressed various SDGs. The event sparked lively discussions on sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), highlighting their pivotal roles in shaping the future of tourism and hospitality. Keynote speaker Khun Ben Montgomery, Corporate Ambassador at Centara Hotels & Resorts and Chairperson of PATA Thailand Chapter, delivered a compelling session titled "The Future Trends of Sustainability and CSR in Hospitality." Her insights into emerging industry trends left a profound impact on attendees, fostering critical thinking and strategic planning among future leaders in hospitality management.

In this event, the main topics we mainly discussed covered the SDG Goals Number 3,4, 8, 12 14 and 15 and successfully drew a diverse audience of 250 attendees, comprising students and faculty members. The overall event was documented by photos capturing key moments of the competition and sessions.

As a result of the event, participants gained valuable insights and practical advice on launching sustainable ventures in hospitality. Several teams from the startup competition were actively pursuing their ideas, with tangible outcomes expected to contribute to SDGs related to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The event successfully raised awareness about the importance of CSR and sustainability practices, reinforcing the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter's commitment to fostering sustainable tourism practices and empowering future industry leaders.
