Tourism brings many economic benefits to a destination. However, these benefits are not equally spread. In this issue of the VE bulletin, Monique Jaspers-Wijn, Global Head of Digital Media at Travelport looks at the data trends on tourist dispersal as well as the measures tourism boards are taking to ensure long-term tourism benefits.
Data are crucial as a starting point to identify over-tourism in cities and seasons, and to better understand tourist characteristics such as nationality. Only from this point, regional dispersal strategies can be developed.
