CEO, Embed & Booking Boss

Renee Welsh is the CEO of Embed and Booking Boss, which she founded as a start up in 2013 before its acquisition by Helix Leisure in 2017. 

One-part executive, one-part entrepreneur, Renee's passion lies in building businesses and transforming industries. A natural innovator, she launched her first tech business when she was 27, and followed this up with stints at prominent start ups across the world, including lastminute.com, wotif, Monster and RedBalloon. 

In 2013, Renee launched Booking Boss, an award-winning ticketing and booking management platform dedicated to attractions, tours and entertainment industries. 

When it was acquired by Helix Leisure in 2017, Renee was appointed CEO to both Booking Boss and sister-company Embed, a complete integrated cloud-based business solution platform made to enable business owners in the family entertainment space achieve greater operational efficiency while reducing costs and increasing profitability. 

Since her appointment as CEO, Renee is Singapore-based, where she continues to push for female representation in the tech industry. As of 2020, Renee leads a Chief Executive team with a gender parity of 50%.

Renee has won many awards and recognitions - most notably being named one of the top 30 Australian Female Entrepreneurs at the Entrepreneur of the Year, Women in Tourism Awards. She was also named one of 10 Tech Innovators at Phocuswright in the US, and then became a judge of the innovation awards in 2016. Renee has spoken at countless global tech conferences and continues to do so. 

In her free time, you won't find Renee cooking but she's a fond foody. Her loves include shoes, laughing with family and much to her husband and children's regret, she is a recent Marie Kondo convert.
