Brought together experts from SPARK Philippines, the Internet Society Foundation, and the Global Himalayan Expedition, the blog discussed strategies for unlocking economic opportunities through digital skilling and capacity-building in the Asia Pacific.

The China-Thailand Cultural Tourism Industry Summit on July 1 highlighted the importance of deepening collaboration to promote cultural tourism, with key insights from PATA Chair Peter Semone and CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid. Over 40 GTERC delegates visited PATA HQ to reinforce partnerships and discuss future collaborative efforts.

Former PATA President Pierre J. Doley was a firm believer in the power of education and truly appreciated the PATA organisation. A memorial scholarship fund has been set up to help young individuals build their future. All donations are used exclusively for educational purposes and sponsorship activities for PATA Youth.

PATA's Tourism Destination Programme (TDR), launched in 2021, aims to support DMOs. This May, PATA is extending the programme to a new destination focused on building greater resilience and sustainability: Sarawak, Malaysia. Learn more in this blog.

Since 2020, PATA has been actively involved in the Tourlink project, aiming to move Thai tourism towards sustainability through a business-led supply chain approach. PATA's primary role in the project focused on a series of initiatives to reduce food and plastic waste in tourism businesses. Now that the TourLink project has concluded, it has achieved remarkable success in each initiative, thanks to the efforts of PATA and all project partners. Read more in the blog.

Key topics that dominated conversations throughout the conference revolved around the pressing need for destinations and businesses to strategise and adapt in preparation for the road ahead, ranging from the fluctuating states of the economic and political environments to the evolving consumer preferences. The insights offered proved insightful and stimulating to tourism stakeholders aiming to navigate and stay ahead in the Asia Pacific travel and tourism industry.
